TRINIDAD NOTES: Holiday Ball on Saturday

The Greater Trinidad Chamber of Commerce presents its annual Holiday Ball on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 6 to 11 p.m. at a fully-decked out Trinidad Town Hall.

The Vanderpool family at Lighthouse Grill is planning a prime rib dinner with delectable sides and desserts by Amy.

Joe Garceau’s band will perform from 6 to 7:30 followed by music for dancing by DJ John Ford.

Tom Sheen will serve libations at the redwood bar he built from old growth redwood in 2005.

Chamber members, guests and the entire Trinidad community is invited to share this evening of celebrating the year’s spirit of volunteerism and joy of giving at every Trinidad event. Th cost is $30 per person (the bargain of the season!). Semi-formal dress. Call immediately so the Vanderpools can plan the evening’s buffet properly. 677-1610 is Chamber voice mail.

Holiday Open House at Trinidad Art Gallery

The twenty hugely talented artists who make up the Trinidad Art Gallery cooperative invite the community to a holiday themed art and variety show on Sunday, Dec. 16 from 2 to 5 p.m. at 490 Trinity Street.

If you have not yet seen Ned’s home beautiful remodeled by Tom Sheen and his team of volunteers, this would be the afternoon to visit.

The artists’ work is first rate and the ambiance is warm and welcoming.

Westhaven Center for the Arts Holiday Open House 

WCA invites everyone to its annual Holiday Open House Party on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 5:30 p.m., 501 South Westhaven Drive.

Bring a side dish, hot or cold, salad or dessert to share. WCA will provide turkey, hot spiced cider, eggnog, plates and utensils. It is a family event, open to the public.

At the same time, enjoy the splendid floral and figurative paintings by Joyce Jonte and the mixed media collages and gorgeous jewelry pieces by Kris Patzlaff. Call 677-9493 for information. The indefatigable Debbie Dew is organizing this event for everyone’s pleasure.

Trinidad School’s Annual Canned Food Collection

Students, parents and the community are encouraged to bring canned goods and non-perishable food to Trinidad School to the hallway by the front office on Trinity Street. The food collection will be donated to local families through the Lions Club sponsored food bank.

Please bring the food to school by Dec. 17 in time for Christmas distribution.

Paul Fitzgerald and the Larrupin’ Cafe staff absolutely outdid themselves for last week’s Trinidad Library Building Fund “Taste of Success.”
