.DISCUSSION…
STRATUS DEVELOPED QUICKLY AFTER SUNSET WEDNESDAY EVENING AND LOOKS
TO PERSIST BETWEEN TRINIDAD AND THE CAPE…DOWN INTO THE EEL RIVER
VALLEY THIS MORNING. MESO MODELS SEEM TO HAVE A DECENT HANDLE ON IT
AND SHOW DISSIPATION AROUND NOON TODAY…WHICH MAKES SENSE GIVEN THE
SYNOPTIC PATTERN. NW WINDS WILL PICK UP AT THE COAST THU AND FRI
AFTERNOONS BUT SHOULDNT BE TOO STRONG…10-20MPH RANGE. EXPECT MORE
STRATUS IN THE SAME AREAS TONIGHT/FRI AM. MID/HIGH CLOUDINESS WILL
THEN INCREASE FRIDAY AS SHORTWAVE RIDGE GIVES WAY TO THE NEXT TROUGH
EXPECTED TO CROSS THE AREA SAT MORNING. THIS SYSTEM WILL LACK
MOISTURE SO KEPT POPS IN THE SLIGHT/LOW CHC RANGE OVER THE WEEKEND. A
SECONDARY PIECE OF ENERGY DROPS INTO THE TROUGH WITH THE LOWEST
HEIGHTS ACROSS NW CA LATE SUNDAY/SUNDAY NT…SO SLIGHTLY HIGHER POPS
AND CLOUD COVER THIS PERIOD. THINGS MAY TAKE AWHILE TO CLEAR OUT
MONDAY BEFORE RIDGING RETURNS BY TUESDAY. LONG RANGE GUIDANCE LOOKS
IN SOMEWHAT BETTER AGREEMENT WITH THE NEXT SYSTEM POISED TO AFFECT
THE NORTH COAST BY LATE WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY. THAT SYSTEM
POTENTIALLY COULD HAVE MORE MOISTURE WITH IT BUT NOTHING TO BE TOO
CONCERNED ABOUT. AD
