…THE TSUNAMI ADVISORY HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR COASTAL AREAS OF
DEL NORTE…HUMBOLDT AND MENDOCINO COUNTIES…

…HAZARDOUS CURRENTS AND WATER FLUCTUATIONS MAY STILL IMPACT SELECTED
LOCATIONS THROUGH SUNDAY…

TSUNAMI OSCILLATIONS ALONG THE CALIFORNIA COAST HAVE DROPPED
BELOW 1 METER IN ALL LOCATIONS. HOWEVER…A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD
STILL EXISTS IN CRESCENT CITY HARBOR WHERE STRONG SURGES ARE STILL
BEING OBSERVED AND WILL CONTINUE FOR A DAY OR MORE.

IRREGULAR CURRENTS AND COASTAL SURGES MAY STILL BE OBSERVED IN
LOCAL BAYS…COVES…AND INLETS THROUGH SUNDAY. COASTAL RESIDENTS ARE
ADVISED TO STAY OUT OF THE WATER…AND OFF THE BEACH. WAVE
HEIGHTS AND CURRENTS ARE AMPLIFIED BY IRREGULAR SHORELINE AND ARE
DIFFICULT TO PREDICT. NARROW BEACHES THAT ARE BORDERED BY CLIFFS
AND ROCKS ARE ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS.

LATEST TSUNAMI OBSERVATIONS INCLUDED 2 TO 3 FT OSCILLATIONS AT
CRESCENT CITY…1 TO 2 FOOT OSCILLATIONS AT HUMBOLDT BAY…AND 1 TO
2 FOOT OSCILLATIONS NEAR POINT ARENA. REMEMBER THAT TSUNAMIS COME
IN WAVES AND THAT CURRENTS OSCILLATE WITH A PERIOD OF
APPROXIMATELY 20-30 MINUTES. CURRENTS THAT REVERSE WITH THIS
FREQUENCY CAN POSE SERIOUS THREATS.
