Sorry folks, but somehow I managed to leave the announcement of the local Imagine Humboldt meeting out of this week’s paper. The meeting is at McKinleyville High School, Multipurpose Room on Monday, January 24, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Below is a press release from the Humboldt County Association of Governments.
But before we get to that, here’s one way to imagine what it will be like in 2050:
From the Humboldt County Association of Governments:
imagine humboldt! in 2050…
Community visioning workshops are scheduled this month for residents throughout the County to gather and express their hopes and dreams for the future. Everyone is invited to help build a vision for 2050 through the blueprint planning project entitled “imagine humboldt!”
The imagine humboldt! project is spearheaded by the Humboldt County Association of Governments, which is the regional transportation planning agency. imagine humboldt! is visionary, not regulatory. It does not set policy.
imagine humboldt! visioning workshops are an opportunity for us all to discover common needs, wants, and expectations for our region. Workshops will be held at five local high schools to engage the entire community, including youth – who have a great stake in what Humboldt becomes in 2050. The sixth visioning workshop, which will be at the Wharfinger Building in Eureka, will also showcase what participants imagined at the first five workshops.
The imagine humboldt! workshop schedule is as follows: South Fork High School Tuesday, January 18, 5:00-7:00PM; Arcata High School, Multipurpose Room Thursday, January 20, 5:30-7:30PM; McKinleyville High School, Multipurpose Room Monday, January 24, 6:30-8:30PM; Hoopa High School, Cafeteria Tuesday, January 25, 5:30-7:30PM; Fortuna High School Wednesday, January 26, 6:00-8:00PM; Wharfinger Building, Eureka Monday, January 31, 5:30-7:30PM.
