The coming edition of the McK Press will have an update on the Mad River Bridges project, but there’s something you need to know now – the northbound Central Avenue exit will be closed from 8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6 through 6 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7.
So if you’re driving to McKinleyville from points south during this time, you’ll need to take the School Road or Murray Road exits. During the closure, crews will get the new offramp completed for Tuesday morning.
Do you know if they’ll repave the bridges? On one level, it’s disappointing to get a brand spankin’ new bridge that looks like crap (gouged out paint, overlapping pavement (e.g., not flat), etc. On another level, some of the raised areas don’t strike me as safe if changing lanes in wet weather.
This was discussed at last Wednesday’s MCSD meeting. It will be repaved. They’ll cover over all those old lane markers, which make the roadway confusing.
It was also discussed weeks earlier on local blogs by only one person too, before Cal-Trans decided to schedule the meeting with the MCSD. – HOJ
Sweet. Thanks.
