Skate Park, Teen Center on McK Rec Committee agenda

A proposed McKinleyville Skate Park and a new Teen Center are among the items that will be discussed by the McKinleyville Recreation Advisory Committee at its meeting on Thursday, June 21. The meeting, which is open to the public, begins at 6 p.m. at the MCSD Conference Room at 1656 Sutter Road.
The committee will review a revised right-of-entry agreement with the McKinleyville Skate Park Organization. The committee is recommending that the MCSD Board of Directors designate Pierson Park as the location for the skate park.
However, if the MCSD board is uncomfortable with designating Pierson Park, the committee is recommending that the right-of-entry agreement state that the park be located “at a location designated by the district, with a strong preference for the location to be at Pierson Park.”
The committee will also receive an update on the teen center, which will be constructed on the west side of the Activity Center at Pierson Park. At the June 6 meeting, the MCSD Board of Directors awarded a bid to LDA Partners to design the center.
Also on the agenda is an informational item requested by committee member Jeff Dunk, who is suggesting that a decorate garden at Hiller Park near the playground area.

Westhaven Community Services District board meets tonight

The Westhaven Community Services District Board of Directors meets at 7:30 p.m. today, June 20, at the Westhaven Fire Hall, 446 Sixth Avenue, in Westhaven.
Among the items on tonight’s agenda is a public hearing on a water rate increase. The proposed water rate increase is approximately $1.70 per month for the average water user (100 gallons per day) and $3 a month for a high-end user (300 gallons per day).
The WCSD will also discuss its budget, commend WCSD employee Jamie Vincent and hear reports on several topics.
