Car show Saturday in McK

The annual McKinleyville Oldies But Goodies Car Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 9 behind the McKinleyville Ace Hardware at Central Avenue and Pickett Road.
The public can stop by and check out the classic cars for free. Owners of old or exotic cars that want to enter the show will be charged $25 and will receive a free barbecue meal.
The show is for pre-1974 cars and motorcycles, and for exotic vehicles and motorcycles from any year. The show also has a special category for PT Cruisers.
The event includes motorized barstool racing and miniature car racing. At 1 p.m. there will be “toilet seat drag racing.”
After the show at 3 p.m., the cars will cruise down Central Avenue and McKinleyville Avenue.

Transit of Venus 6.5.12

I had a pair of paper eclipse glasses, so I used Scotch tape to connect them to the lens on my digital camera. I mounted the camera on a tripod, then zoomed in to the sun. I used the manual setting and used the camera’s smallest aperture. Afterward, I cropped the photo. This is the result. – Jack
