Broadway and 5th Street paving this summer

This could be a messy summer when driving through Eureka. FYI.

From Caltrans:

CALTRANS OPEN HOUSE ON SPRING AND SUMMER
RESURFACING PROJECT ON BROADWAY AND 5TH STREET

Eureka – Caltrans announced today that a public open house will be held on Thursday, April 14, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wharfinger Building on a project to resurface Route 101 in Eureka this spring and summer. This drop-in style meeting will feature project information and Caltrans staff to answer questions. A short presentation on the project will take place at 5:30 PM.

This project will resurface Route 101 through Eureka on Broadway (northbound and southbound) from Kmart to 5th Street and on 5th Street from Broadway to O Street. The purpose of this project is to reduce the need for maintenance as well as improve ride quality and extend the service life of the pavement for this portion of Route 101.

The Wharfinger Building is located at 1 Marina Way in Eureka. For more information, please contact Caltrans Resident Engineer Heidi Quintrell at 707-445-6649.

Maybe all the meth heads and bums will think it’s a giant fly-tape and stick in it, then a big steamroller will smooth it.
