The Planning Dept. wants to rezone chunks of our town for high-density housing. You can read about this in the Feb. 23 edition, along with some of the reaction the county’s proposal has sparked. There’s now talk of the MCSD taking on planning powers. The Planning Commission is even discussing the idea of ignoring state housing mandates.
At the Valentine’s Day hearing, resident Ron Coffman summed up a lot of people’s concerns when he testified “We do not appreciate the systematic dismantling of the McKinleyville Community Plan.”
