This involves skateboarding.

As reported in the McKinleyville Press, skateboarders were criticized at a recent meeting. At this meeting, skateboarders will apparently defend themselves.

REWARD!

Let’s get this person! Here’s the raw press release from the AFD:

ARCATA, CA- (February 7, 2010) – The Arcata Fire District announced this
morning that the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction
of the person responsible for a series of dumpster fires has been doubled
and is now $3,000.

The original reward of $1,500 has been matched by the addition of $1,500
donated by California Insurance Group. The insurance group is providing the
funds in the hope that it will encourage anyone with information related to
the recent fires to come forward.

The series of fires began in September and have involved dumpsters, trash
cans, recycle bins and portable toilets. The most recent fire, at the Tea
Gardens apartments, destroyed two three-story buildings containing eight
apartments and began in the immediate area of a portable toilet. Damage from
that fire is estimated at $800,000 for the buildings and $200,000 for the
contents and personal belongings. One resident suffered a wrist injury after
jumping from a balcony and a firefighter sustained a facial burn.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately.
Also, trash receptacles and combustible materials must be kept away from
buildings and should be located in a well-lit area. Also, any fires that
have occurred, even when they are discovered hours or days after the fact,
must be reported to the Fire District.

The reward of $3,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest and
conviction of the person responsible for these fires. Anyone with
information regarding the fires is asked to contact the Arcata Fire District
at 825-2000 or the Arcata Police Department at 822-2428.
